Chief Development Officer (Vice President of Operations and Administration) for a multi-tier Entertainment/Hospitality Company My client, a young and dynamic international Entrepreneur featured in various Business magazines and publications around the world has retained me to identify a key Executive to fill the ‘critical’ position of Chief Development Officer (Vice President of Operations and Administration) for his new Business venture The newly created Executive team is expected to manage a full-service Entertainment/Hospitality Company with envisioned operations in 20+ cities around the world. The “right” candidate will have extensive experience successfully leading and growing similar Organizations from a senior management position. The candidate must have extensive experience managing a wide range of geographic locations to be able to fully understand the complexity of this company. This position will report directly to the President/Chief Executive Officer Snapshot/Background: After several successful Business ventures in Las Vegas, New York and Miami within the Entertainment and Hospitality industries, my client is now in the preliminary stages of building a multi-million dollar next-generation 5-star international Entertainment Company that will encompass Luxury Mega-Nightclubs, 5 star Restaurants and Concert Halls/Arenas centralized "under one roof". Multiple "exotic" and "traditional/non-traditional" international locations will open to the VIP/Celebrity world within the next 12-36 months with the goal of having presence in 15+ countries by year 2010 Scope: The candidate will be responsible for setting and supporting the development and implementation of Business strategies that fulfill the expectations of the CEO, stakeholders, team members and the Organization in general. The focus of this position is to ensure sustainable growth through direct influence on the reporting groups and active participation in company wide strategy creation and execution. The candidate will work on a "solo" basis with my client during the first stages of this project but he/she is expected to have a direct-reporting international team within the first few months of employment Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as a visible leader and role model within the Organization Ensure that the operation of the Organization meets the expectations of its Clients, Stakeholders and Team Members Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies Monitor and evaluate the company’s progress toward meeting its objectives and implement countermeasures where necessary Maintain solid communications and relations with CEO. Identify, assess, and inform the CEO of internal and external issues that affect the Organization Develop personnel to meet Business needs. Provide counsel and direction to direct reports Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the Organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Company Identify and evaluate the risks to the Organization's "people" (clients, staff, management) property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks Ensure the company’s Information Technology systems and infrastructure support the ongoing and future needs of the Business Ensure the company’s investment in products and services are spent using sound business practices Co-develop a strong Company brand. Build solid and sustainable Customer/VIP relationships. Must be able to "deal" with the celebrity, VIP, high-roller environment with success and professionalism Achieve pre-set business growth objectives as dictated by the CEO Requirements: 10+ years of varied and extensive senior management experience in the Entertainment and/or Hospitality industries. Luxury Nightclub or 5-star Restaurant experience is highly desired. A person that started in a simple role and "grew up within the ranks" in the Company would be ideal for my client Excellent presence and communication/presentations skills are mandatory since the candidate will be dealing with high-level Icons of the Entertainment, Fashion and Hospitality industries MULTILINGUAL ABILITIES ARE A MUST. CANDIDATE MUST READ, WRITE AND SPEAK ENGLISH AND AT LEAST ANOTHER MAJOR LANGUAGE AT A BUSINESS LEVEL. ADDITIONAL LANGUAGES (2 OR MORE) ARE HIGHLY DESIRED. Ability to communicate in my client's native language (Spanish) is also a big plus Direct experience and/or understanding of multi-tier Venues (again, Nightclub/Restaurant/Concert Hall "under-one-roof concept") THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! Experience in a large multiple-entities and multi-country, international Organization is a BIG plus Experience developing and delivering high-level "luxury experience" to VIP customers/celebrities Strong financial management capabilities and defined/proven success in this area Highly developed skills in managing and developing people including in the areas of recruiting, coaching, and mentoring. "Lead-by-example" and "roll up their shirt sleeves" attitude highly desired First-hand knowledge of Information Systems/Technology as it applies to the Entertainment and Hospitality world (established relationships with technology vendors is a plus) The successful candidate must possess at least an undergraduate degree ideally in Business. An MBA is strongly desirable Able to travel up to 50% primarily in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Valid passport and ability to obtain Visas as-needed is a MUST Ability to pass an extensive background check during the interview process (no criminal record, verifiable references, accurate work history, etc) Leadership and Personal Attributes: An individual of unquestioned honesty and integrity Willingness to tackle tough issues by working through conflict, delivering feedback, and dealing promptly with problem performers Thrive in an ever-changing environment and deals well with time of crisis Anticipate likely obstacles and recognize creative ways to get around them, view problems in new and unique ways, and a willingness to entertain alternative solutions to achieve objectives Possess the ability to create and support a high performance culture. Gets the most and best out of people through goal setting, measurement, accountability, use of feedback, and coaching A decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective and is well-grounded in systems/processes An entrepreneurial drive that is balanced by an appreciation for running a sound business Expected compensation package: My client is looking for a top-notch "unique" individual and is willing to compensate him/her above industry-standards but based on experience.
